AI Transparency Statement

KraalSense uses artificial intelligence (AI) through its KraalMind system to support farm decision-making. This statement explains how our AI works, what data it uses, and how it supports — not replaces — farmer judgment.
1) Purpose of AI in KraalSense
KraalMind is designed to provide decision support for livestock and crop management, including forecasting, alerts, optimization suggestions, and risk scoring.
- Heat detection and breeding alerts
- Disease risk and health forecasting
- Water balance and irrigation guidance (FAO-56 models)
- Grazing optimization and pasture analysis
- Financial performance projections
- Mortality and yield risk indicators
AI outputs are advisory in nature and are intended to assist farmers in making informed decisions.
2) Data Used by AI
KraalMind may process:
- User-entered farm records
- Satellite imagery (NDVI, NDWI, NDRE)
- Weather and climate data
- IoT device readings (if enabled)
- Historical farm performance data
We do not use farm data to train public AI models. Farm-level data remains private and isolated within the KraalSense infrastructure.
3) Human Oversight
KraalMind does not autonomously execute farm actions. All recommendations require human review and decision-making.
Farmers retain full control over implementation of AI suggestions.
4) Accuracy & Limitations
AI predictions are based on probabilistic models and historical data. Results may vary depending on data quality, environmental conditions, and farm-specific factors.
KraalSense does not guarantee specific outcomes based on AI recommendations.
5) Fairness & Responsible AI
We design KraalMind to serve diverse farm sizes — from smallholders to commercial operations — ensuring accessibility across African contexts.
Our AI systems are continuously reviewed to:
- Reduce bias in decision recommendations
- Improve interpretability of outputs
- Enhance robustness in low-connectivity environments
6) Security & Data Protection
AI processing occurs within secure cloud environments using encrypted infrastructure and controlled access mechanisms.
7) Continuous Improvement
KraalMind evolves as new data, research, and field feedback are incorporated. Updates aim to improve precision, transparency, and farmer benefit.
